Ho hum - slick pass and move in the lead up combined with defensive lapses and mystifying missed scoring opportunities; this also with players consistently started out of position and questions about form of key personnel (Cresswell, Kouyate and increasingly Antonio).

I must say I my patience is wearing as Bilić's beard grows...

Bad result but one of he best games I've watched at the new ground, it was like watching the West Ham of old, great attacking play dodgy defending.

Randolph badly at fault for the first goal, haven't had time to see the other two on tv replays, thought Byram did well at RB but Cresswell has lost his way.

Great save by the keeper from Carrol but Ayew really should have scored his chance.

No. Jaap Stam commented that Oxford was surprised by the intensity of Reading's training.

Whether it was a veiled dig or just a factual comment made without any agenda. Only Stam will know.

Needless to say its got all the knicker wetters juices flowing.

Yesterday fitness wasn't an issue. We ran Leicester ragged in the second half and they were hanging on. Damage was already done though.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Not sure lack of fitness makes you concede goals in the first 10 mins time after time. Down to shambolic defending this week.

If we concede 2 or 3 in our next game I will start calling it SHAMBILIC defending.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
The fitness issue is worrying and it seems to have been around all season. Didn't the Reading manager comment on the lack of fitness of Oxford? If lack of fitness is a main contributor to poor results, and also no doubt injuries, then it must be time for Bilic to go.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
.......and also. If you are going to blame the new stadium this season you could say our good home form last season was because it was our last ever at U.P and the players were trying harder.
If Billic is still in charge next season then that will be the real indicator of his abilities.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
I love the way the stadium and London being on the badge is the excuse for Bilic. How does that actually make Bilic worthy of keeping his job, considering at least one of those things isn't going to change.

Neither have anything to do with player recruitment, injuries, line ups, tactics, substitutions and 'lack of intensity' in training but yeah the stands and badge are holding Bilic back.

So, errr, the solution is to keep Bilic?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
We have looked unfit & unorganised and lacked any real identifiable style of play since pre season. We are also shipping goals home and away at an alarming rate.

The move may have had an impact but to simply blame everything on that is just making excuses for Billic who many of our fans understandably like

Sven- interesting point about Fernandes. I remember when he arrived amongst a pile of rubbish reading a point about him being our 'hidden gem'. Well Lanzini has come really good so perhaps its time to give Fernandes a decent run alongside him?

I live in hope that someone will blow it up. Or Sadiq Khan will do something useful and kick us out.

Beyond that, sign the UKRAINE national team or players from other footballing outposts that don't hate playing at athletics stadia.

Hermit - that's exactly what I am looking at. There's a marginal difference between our away records last season and this. There's a chasm between our home records last season and this. You can scramble around from week to week targeting different players, the manager, Julian Dicks seems to be one of the current favourite potshots that people are taking. I'll just look at the one thing that's different from last season to this.

Terrible recruitment... do better in the summer
Terrible players ... get better ones
Manager (didn't say he was terrible) ... hope he improves, replace him if he doesn't

The ground .... we are there and will be there.
Things can be improved I'm sure but that's where we are.
So ... the ground . What do YOU suggest?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
What's the expected differential between seasons for average points? Does it go up, down, by how much, or does it flatline? Given that teams don't move every year, it's worth having a baseline.

Or you could look at the team, watch how they play, realise that there has been some serious errors in recruitment, selection and tactics, and work out that this season's drop in performance isn't all about the postcode of the home ground.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Last season we averaged 1.3 points per game away from home
This season we average 1.1 points per game away from home

Last season we averaged 1.8 points per game at home. GD +8
This season we average 1.2 points per game at home. GD - 10

Its lazier to ignore the blindingly obvious.

Last year we were above all in that list bar 2.

We are deteriorating and it is lazy to blame the location of a bit of grass.

So you think the recruitment was terrible

So you think the manager is terrible

So you think the players are terrible.

What are you going to do about it, beyond endless whining?

And the difference between our positions is that I have a whole seasons worth of evidence that the manager isn't terrible, and nor are the players. Indeed, even this season, they're the it has best in the league away from home.

You've got nothing to suggest that the stadium isn't fucking terrible, and a massive problem
